Carrie Underwood’s song “so small”
I absolutely love this song by Carrie Underwood. It is about faith and perseverance. I get goose bumps every time this song comes on. I look for the greater meaning in a song and how it speaks to me and this gives me hope and encouragement that everything will be ok.

Maid Of Honor
This was funny! I really liked 27 dresses and did not know if this was going to be great or not but it was. I love Patrick Dempsey. I have seen several of his movies and he is a funny, romantic actor. At first I thought this was going to be like my best friend’s wedding which I hated because I thought Julia Roberts was cruel in her attempt to get her friend back. This was far from it. It has humor, romance and appeal. The main theme is you don’t know what you have until it is gone. Tom which is Dempsey’s character realizes his best friend is who he is meant to be with. He goes to share this news and she lands a big one on him, she is getting married. Thus Maid of Honor title. It has quite a few sexual innuendos but is fairly clean. It is the perfect girls night out movie. I just saw it with one of my good friends. Stephen does not like the “chick flicks” so I went with a friend. I definitely recommend this is you are in for a romantic comedy with a wonderful ending!

Syesha Voted Off
The results show was interesting to say the least. I love Fantasia but she looked drugged out or something. I think even the judges were a little perplexed by her performance. I also thought it was interesting that they played a Daughtry song during David Cook’s look back. Since they have been compared and all. I called it and so did everyone else and this is going to be the best finale ever in AI. I hope Cook wins but either way I will be happy and both will go far. I am sorry to see Syesha go but she will do well. She is a wonderful talent and beautiful too. See you next week!

The Purpose of a woman
Lisa Bevere came and spoke at our church this past weekend and it was awesome. Our pastor wrote his thoughts on her message in his weekly e-note. This was really good! I hope you enjoy!
| The Purpose of a Woman It was such a blessing to have Lisa Bevere speak about God’s calling for women this last weekend, Mother’s Day weekend. Not surprisingly, her message was encouraging, challenging, and right on. Several of the points she made really stood out in my mind, so I’d like to highlight them here. God created us, both men and women, for dominion, not domination. Dominion is when a person uses their influence to cause those under them to flourish. Domination is when a person forces their will upon another. While God intended us to exercise dominion, the fall twisted that purpose into a struggle for domination. But in Christ, we can recapture the truth. Men and women are not enemies, we’re allies - stronger together than we are separately. Male and female, exercising dominion together is what truly captures the image of God. God created women, especially mothers, to fulfill a specific role in His kingdom - to create an environment in which the seeds He is planting can flourish. You are called to nurture - to be strong, to care and to give. Despite the time of difficulty that seems to be upon us, this is not the season to start hoarding and stop giving out of fear. It is the season for women to give. Remember, it is in the hard times that God’s people flourish…unless they fear. So, women, if you will go forward, trusting God, you will have the opportunity in the next decade to address the problem of the widowed, the orphaned and the poor; to unite together and say, “That’s enough!” to social injustices. It’s time that the church be known for caring, not judging. That’s where the heart of a mother comes in. Mothers, this ministry begins at home. You need to have the house everybody wants to come to, the marriage that everybody wants to have. Nurture your husband, nurture your home. Start by understanding that most men hear love through words of affirmation and affectionate touch. I’m sure you would agree that everybody deserves to be loved in the way they hear it. Realize that you are not called to train your husband and serve your kids, as is commonly thought in our culture, but to serve your husband and train your kids. Let your kids see the love you share. Every child needs to know that mommy and daddy are in love, and that they, the children, are loved, looked for and watched out for. Nurture your children and the gift of God in them. Don’t use your strengths to point out your children’s weaknesses, but rather to identify and nurture their strengths. You always strengthen strengths to displace weaknesses. God is looking for an army of fathers and mothers to position their children to inherit God’s promises - not our fears. If we are ever going to rise above the petty and destructive struggle for domination and exercise true dominion in this earth, both men and women need to understand that this is what God created women for. I want to challenge you, women, to pursue this calling whole-heartedly. And, I want to challenge you, men, to love and give of yourselves to your wives in this endeavor. Together, you will have a tremendous impact on your children, your communities and the world for Christ! |

American Idol and the final three
My favorite of course was David Cook. Syesha I thought did a wonderful job but I thought it was more theatrical than American Idol. She will really do well on broadway. I also thought David A. did well. Maybe not quite as good as past performances but still great! I thought the judges were a little rough on the producers choice since they did not actually pick the song and I agree with Simon that David Cook won the night.

A bad ending to the day
Stephen went out to his car to come home and it had been broken into. The passenger side window was completely smashed in. They picked the wrong car though because there was absolutely nothing in it. We have the factory radio in it after my nice stereo was stolen when we first got married. Nothing was touched. We seem to be the lucky car today because no one else’s was broken into. Stephen told me after he first went there cars were broken into from time to time.
If you can pray this is not too expensive, we are going to call around for a few quotes (we have 2-3 recommendations from his brother who is a mechanic) unless it is over 500 dollars we will not file a claim as our deductable is $500.
This could not have come at a worse time because we are having a lot of expenses financially this month and something else happened over the weekend that is going to cost close to $200 now this. It is really hard to have faith and keep on when this happens over and over and over again. It really makes you wonder what you are doing wrong. I know I need to have faith so keep us both lifted up as we did not need this. We are so close to getting this one card paid off and this really sucks!

Cancer
My grandmother’s friend of over 55 years was diagnosed with malignant colon cancer yesterday. She is 79 years old and we are basically her only family. She was never able to have children and she was not close to her own family. Her husband died shortly after my grandfather. It saddens me. I have known her all of my life. She is like a second grandmother to me. It also makes me angry because she went to her doctor last summer with bleeding and he passed it off as something else and now we are here a year later with a huge mass and malignant cancer. It could have been prevented or caught early. Now who knows. I am praying for her healing. Please keep her and all cancer patients in your prayers.

The faith of a child
Sarah received an accordion from a relative. Anyway, I did not know that Sarah had seen one on Stephen’s computer and said she wanted one. He said, “Well you need to pray for one. Ask God for one for your birthday.” She said “Mommy, I prayed after that. I asked God to give me an accordion for my birthday.” I have to say this is such a rare thing to get someone so it had to be God. My cousin has never had children and she felt led or thought this would be a great gift. Sarah has been playing ever since. She loves it and Hannah loves her playing. Hannah said last night after Sarah played “la la purty (pretty)” La La is music.. I thought this might encourage you in your faith or help you if you are asking God for something. He does not always answer our prayers the way we want but I thought this was so amazing that a 5 year old child believed God could give her an accordion and he did.

Mother’s Day Celebration
It was a great day. I was able to sleep a little late which is good because I was up part of the night listening out for the weather. We had tornadoes hit the state but fortunately it passed over this part of GA. Some parts were decimated. Anyway, my mom, grandmother, the girls and I went to our favorite Japanese restaurant. We came home opened gifts and had dessert. My mother gets me a present every year because she says I act like her mother sometimes since my dad passed away quite a few years ago. She got me 27 dresses my all time favorite movie and a small box of candy. My grandmother and Stephen bought me a small gift cards to Starbucks and Sarah made me a tea cup magnet and a bookmark with her beautiful picture on it. It was a lovely day. The only thing that would have made it perfect is if Stephen had been there. He has to work on Sunday’s.
I hope your mother’s day was wonderful too.
