Melt my heart

4 Feb

I was putting Peanut to bed when she leaned over to me and hugged me. She said, ” I luv you , mommy.”  My heart melted. She has said those three little words before but not on her own. My older daughter said to me as I was passing by her room, “mommy I love you.” There my heart goes again melting. Just to hear those three little words is amazing. I love being a mom and I love my beautiful girls. When everything seems out of control, those three words make all right with the world.

Remnant: People of Faith-Part 2

4 Feb

Do you know that God has called us to be overcomers? It’s true! He never called us to be defeated by our circumstances – no matter how dire they may seem at the moment. Rather, we’re called to walk in victory, to experience inner peace and joy. Yet, too many of us have either forgotten this or just don’t know. Here’s the truth: God wants to pour out His favor on us – to reward and bless us. However, in order for that to happen, we have to walk in faith by putting our trust in Him. Everything that involves God, involves faith. Think about it. It is only through faith that we are saved, healed and protected. Faith is necessary to receive the Holy Spirit, to have victory and to live right with God. You see, God lives in the realm of the impossible, the realm of faith, and He wants us to live there with Him. How? We have to believe that He can do anything. We have to know God for ourselves, in our hearts, not just know about Him in our heads. The way in which we know Him determines a lot of things about our lives. Wherever we are in life, it’s a byproduct of our faith. If we want to be People of Faith, there are four principles we need to know about how faith works: 1. Faith works through love. Love must be our primary motivation in whatever we’re doing if we want faith to work. As soon as we stop loving (by holding onto unforgiveness, for example), faith stops working. 2. Faith believes God regardless of the circumstances. Of the seventeen miraculous healings by Jesus that are recorded in the Gospels, Jesus attributed thirteen of them to the faith of the people involved; “…your faith has made you well…” All of these people were dealing with difficult circumstances, yet they believed. 3. Faith in the heart comes out through the mouth. What is there in your life that seems like an insurmountable mountain? Are you speaking to it in faith, or only about it? Speaking about a mountainous problem doesn’t make it any better; it only makes it bigger. If we want change, we have to change what we say. 4. Finally, faith acts on what it believes. Where we’re at is a statement of what we believe. God doesn’t call us to sit passively. Our circumstances may be testing us, but if we believe, and act on what we believe, then we will enter the “Promised Land” of God’s favor and blessing. So, how are you doing with your love motivation? What are believing about your circumstances? What are you saying with your mouth? And, how are you acting? When you align your motivation, beliefs, words and actions with God’s Word, you are walking in faith. That’s why it’s essential to keep our eyes on Him and off of our circumstances! The more we keep our eyes on Him, trusting in His Word, character and power, the more insignificant our troubles will become, and the more peace, joy and victory we will experience! The Closer

2 Feb

This is my new favorite show. It comes on Mondays at 9 PM EST. It has humor, but is truly a crime drama. It does not have all the blood and guts of Law and Order but still you are guessing, “who did it”. I love it!

Three Grocery Stores on a Monday

2 Feb

Ok so the average person does not shop at three grocery stores but I never said I was average. I am always looking for ways to save money and this is it. Walmart has great deals on some things; while, Publix has our soy milk in stock and better prices on fruit. Kroger carries my diapers and steamer bags along with a few other things. All in all it was a good day. I accomplished this in 2 1/2 hours since I was by myself. Peanut got strep sometime last week and since she could have easily gotten it from the store she stayed home today. I need her and all of us well.

Here were a couple of my deals for the day: tiny boxes of Russell stover candy for $1 and little M and M hearts for the same price. We are on a really tight budget so a dollar I can do for my daughter’s teacher.  My other deal is Kroger has it’s cheerios on sale for $1.67 and I had a coupon for $0.50 off well Kroger doubles their coupons up to a $1 so I bought a box of cheerios for $0.67.  I was excited!  I noticed some prices have gone up again so every little bit of savings helps.

Recalled Peanut Butter and Peanut Butter Products

2 Feb

When I first heard about this recall, I thought, “here we go again”. Remember a couple of years ago tainted peanut was recalled. It was from Georgia and it included jarred peanut butter. You would think the FDA, and Georgia agriculture people would have been tougher on these plants. It appears that Georgia inspectors did make note of the poor and unsanitary conditions of the plant such as mold, a leaking roof,  rats and cockroaches running around. This is unacceptable and all involved should be prosecuted.

500 plus people have been sickened and 8 people have died. This could have been us. My girls eat PBJ everyday. I eat it too. It is cheap and tastes yummy. This is a food that is equated with our great country. I usually buy store brand natural peanut butter for the girls but with the recall they are telling people to only buy brand name or at least our news station is. Jiff came out and said they have tested all jarred peanut buttter and it is safe. Therefore I bought a jar of Jiff and a jar of Smuckers natural. Smuckers produces Jiff. The one thing I cannot eat and will not eat is Reeses peanut butter cups. I see them everywhere yet they recalled reeses that are in cookies and ice cream so I would not even touch the candy. My girls love it but we bought something else for v-day. Anything with peanuts with the exception of jarred peanut butter I won’t touch either.

It is scary. I would say I would give it up all together but what would my girls eat. Lunch meat all the time is too expensive. I don’t know that more gov’t oversight is not the answer since we have that and it has failed. The ecoli scare last summer with spinach and tomatoes or peppers. They don’t even know what caused that scare and tomato farmers suffered for it.

I think the whole program needs to be overhauled. Tough prosecution maybe jail time along with stiffer fines for those knowingly selling tainted food. It is all about the bottom line. Had this not been about losing profits then they would have never sold tainted peanuts to Canada and shipped tainted peanut butter products all over the US. I got this story off of our local news  website here is a complete look at the recall and all that was found inside this plant. Ice cream is the new recall today. Check out the FDA website to get an updated list of recalled items.

Bottom Line we always pray over our food. I had food poisoning from Arby’s when I was 10 years old and I will never forget it. I was so ill I almost had to be hospitalized. Ever since then I pray, “Lord bless this food to the nourishment of our bodies and take all disease and bacteria out of it.” I would encourage you to pray over your food too. We cannot depend on state and federal gov’t to protect us.

In the acticle it has other articles on Girl Scout Cookies. They are not part of the recall. They do not get their peanut butter products from that plant and have tested all peanut butter products that go in their cookies and all are safe.
