Points of Prayer: 2009

15 Jan

Our pastor put these points of prayer for the week!

  • Pray for President Bush as he wraps up the final days of his service to our nation– for a complete sense of God’s peace and presence, for meaningful moments in the meetings that remain before him, and for continued grace in the transition to the Obama administration. Pray for him and Mrs. Bush to have a great sense of joy and satisfaction as they prepare to return to Texas.
  • Pray for President Elect and Mrs. Obama as they are now in Washington, preparing for Inauguration Day and all that follows. Pray for the President Elect as he continues to work with his economic team to devise ways to heal the ailing American economy, asking God to guide him with His wisdom and understanding. Pray for wise solutions to the difficult problems that face the President Elect and members of his team.
  • Pray for members of the Senate as they continue confirmation hearings for President Elect Obama’s cabinet appointees, asking God’s wisdom and blessing on each hearing.
  • As Inauguration Day nears, pray for God’s complete protection and presence over the city of Washington, D.C. and its citizens and all who come to celebration the historic moment. Give thanks for the blessings of democracy in America that allow for the peaceful and orderly transfer of power, and pray for all who are responsible for the changeover. Pray for continued grace and dignity in the transition.
  • Pray for an end to the violence in the Middle East, asking God to protect innocent lives and to calm those who seek to further the hostility. Pray for a willingness to negotiate a cease-fire, and pray for no further escalation of the situation.
  • Pray for our troops as they work to safeguard our freedom, giving thanks for their sacrifices on our behalf.
  • Give thanks for the vast areas of ocean habitat that were set aside by President Bush as he designated three new national monuments that will protect a huge portion of submerged land, coral reefs and extraordinary ocean habitat
