Our Economy

20 Mar

Pastor, Dennis Rouse, from Victory World Church preached a timely and encouraging message on our economy. I think you will be encouraged by what he says.

Today, I want to write about something that seems to be on everyone’s mind these days, and something I addressed in my message this past weekend…our finances. (If you missed it, you can listen to or watch that message here.) We need a revelation from God about our finances, especially as we walk through this difficult time. So, let me say this first off: God always takes care of His people; He never forsakes us. However, it is up to us as to whether we will walk according to His vision for our finances, and so experience His peace and provision; or according to the world’s vision, and so experience the heartache and destruction that is so prevalent in the news.

Money is the number one competitor against God for our hearts. It affects everything in our lives – our education, our parenting, our marriage, etc. When we don’t understand it, we abuse it. We need to understand that the true purpose for the money God has given us is not just for us to have stuff, but for us to experience the joy of using it to accomplish His purposes.

In the earth, there are two economies that operate side by side: the world’s economy, which is ruled by Satan; and God’s economy, which is, of course, ruled by God. The world’s economy operates with one key principle: “The rich rule over the poor and the borrower is servant to the lender.” (Proverbs 22:7 NKJ) When we continue to use debt, we put ourselves into slavery to the credit companies, the government and, ultimately, to Satan. God doesn’t want us to be enslaved to anyone. He wants to deliver us out of debt. Let there be no question: His will for us is to be debt-free.

So, we need to make a shift in the way we think about money and the economic system we’ve grown up in and gotten used to. Our answer does not lie there, nor with either side of the current public debate about the “right” way to solve our economic woes. (Honestly, in this case as with many others, both sides are wrong.) Our help doesn’t come from the world’s economy, but from God. It’s His side we need to get on! How? By seeking Him first. That’s the master key to God’s economy. We have to stop worrying. Our God provides for us, there’s plenty. We only have to stay hooked up to Him. Worrying doesn’t change anything.

When we seek God first, everything we need will be given to us. (Matthew 6:33)

When we’re seeking God first, we don’t take out loans, we don’t go into debt, we don’t buy things we don’t have money for. Those things only lead to enslavement. Do you want to be enslaved to lenders, the government or the whims of this world’s economy? Of course not! Neither do I, and neither does God want that for us. No, God wants you and me to experience the peace and joy of trusting Him completely and the freedom to use the money He has given us to accomplish His purposes, to see lives changed and this world transformed through our Spirit-led generosity. Doesn’t that sound a lot more exciting than what’s been on the news the last several months?! Yes, it does! That’s why you need to get God’s Vision for Your Financial Life.

Why I like Mike Huckabee

20 Mar

He was one of the 2008 presidential candidate. I voted for him because he stood for the same issues I did. He was a former pastor and a humbled servant. He has common sense solutions to todays overwhelming problems. I love watching him on his show, Huckabee on Fox, or as a news contributor on other Fox shows.

My husband and I were speaking on this very subject last night. I think he would do well in 2012 as  a presidential candidate because he has the likability factor as well as conservative values that many Americans are wanting to get back too. He brings the social justice and the moral justice together instead of it being split between two parties. I think this makes him a well rounded candidate as well. I love the fact he wants to overhaul the IRS and have a fair tax. I am all for it. I think the American people will be on board too when they realize that 95% of the people will be PAYING taxes because of all the negligent spending this administration has done.

These are just a few of the reasons I like Mike Huckabee. Check out his site at

How safe are your baby bath products?

13 Mar

My friend posted this on her face book page. It is very disturbing and I wanted to post this on my blog for all to see. Apparently dryer sheets also have formaldehyde in them too. Education is key with what we are putting into our bodies as well as our children.

New Product Tests: Kids’ Bath Products Contaminated with Formaldehyde, 1,4 Dioxane. Chemicals Not Listed on Labels Due to Weak Regulatory Standards Washington D.C., March 12, 2009 — Despite marketing claims like “gentle” and “pure,” dozens of popular children’s bath products are contaminated with the cancer-causing chemicals formaldehyde and 1,4-dioxane, according to new product tests released today by the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics. The chemicals were not listed on product labels. This is the first report to document the widespread presence of formaldehyde and 1,4-dioxane in bath products for children. Many products tested for the study contained both chemicals, including top-selling baby shampoos, bubble baths and baby lotions. At a press conference on Thursday, brand names will be revealed, and medical professionals and researchers will discuss the significance of these first-time findings. Health groups will discuss how lack of regulation in the United States has created a situation where parents cannot be assured that body care products are safe, despite marketing claims that promise product purity. They will also discuss how product safety standards in the U.S. have fallen far behind other countries such as Europe and Japan.

Joy, what a simple word. It is powerful though. In these tough times no matter what you are facing, I want to encourage you to hold on to your faith and have joy. Things may be at there worst but something about staying positive and having faith and joy can actually help pull you out of the situation. The joy of the Lord is my strength. It can give you strength to have that joy. Hang on and stay strong during these uncertain times. Everything just seems so negative so turn off the news and turn to God. Hold on! I just want to encourage you with some positive news and help build your faith.

Whether you have experienced a job loss, a bad marriage, battling an illness, or whatever you are going through, hold on to your faith in God and hold on the joy that is deep within you. My husband and I have faced many, many trials in our almost 8 years of marriage and 13 years of being together but the one constant that got us through was having faith in the midst of the storm and trying to find something positive in all of it. You will come out of whatever situation you are in.

Rihanna and Chris Brown

I pray for this young woman that she will get the courage to leave this kid. He is a kid. He is only 19 years old. Whether he saw his father beat  his mother or not, he does not have the right to beat and almost kill this young woman. I pray she will listen to someone and get out. I gurantee this is not the first time he hit her and it will not be the last. I just pray she does not end up dead. I pray this kid goes to jail and does not get a plea. It is crazy that you can beat a dog and go to jail for almost 2 years in the case of Michael Vick but this guy could only serve a few days to a few months and he almost killed this young woman. Human life has to valued more than this. The laws have to change.

Thank you to Oprah for standing up!

Denise Brown is also speaking out on the violence against women. She started speaking out after her sister was murdered. She says there is a growing trend in teen girls getting beaten by their boyfriends and showing off their bruises. This is sick that a girl would think someone loves her because he beats her. It is not ok for a man to hit you, push you, punch you or talk to you in a degrading way. IT IS NOT OK!!!!!

Snow Fun 2009

2 Mar

We left church yesterday and it was pouring snow from the heavens. It was beautiful. We got about 2-3 inches here. We took the girls out yesterday afternoon and captured these pictures.

My husband wrote this part and it applied to me so I thought I would share it. “The message this morning was especially pertinent to this time in my life. The pastor was talking about Jesus feeding the 5,000 using the loaves a fish (’a bag of Subway’, he amusingly quipped). He pointed out that the miracle didn’t happen until the disciples obeyed: get the loaves and bring them here, then start distributing them. It’s kind of like walking on water: you don’t get to do so until you step out of the boat. The pastor spoke from his heart, saying that again and again, throughout the growth of this church from meeting in a school to a small storefront, then a larger storefront, then a larger, then a larger, then their own property and now creating a sister church, every single time, they didn’t have the money beforehand. They didn’t have what they needed until they stepped out in faith.”

This is so true of our life we have to step out there and put action to what God is asking us to do. The pastor said having faith and putting action with it is like having faith with legs. I like that. Jesus calls us to have faith and says without faith it is impossible to please God. This is one area I struggle in. Doubt comes in or  our circumstances come in but this message yesterday really excited me and lifted me up to where I can cast doubt aside and say I am going to believe and walk in faith. I will remember the story of the 5,000 being fed when I want to waiver. We have to stand firm especially in these tough times!
