We just met the most awesome couple. We really connected with them and they are such a sweet blessing to our lives. I love when God has divine encounters with people. Those moments where you connect with people and it is effortless.

The Power of the Mind

9 Jun

Pastor Troy Shaw, of the Oasis Church preached an awesome word on Sunday. He was going to preach on Restoring the Spirit of Hope but God had other plans. He ended up preaching on The Power of the Mind. It was just what I needed. Here are the notes I took.

Renew your mind then you will know God’s will for your life. We all have choices to make in this life and some lead to life and some lead to death.

There are two negative mentalities:

1. Defeatest Mentality: I will never ___________.  I am stuck right here forever.

2. Poverty Mentality: I will never succeed. I will always be poor or I will always be stuck in this debt.

We dwell on the negative instead of thinking how good God is. When you don’t think anything good can happen, God cannot bless you the way he wants too.

He said, we need to repnt because God wants to take care of us. God can deliver you from the midst of the storm even when we are not deserving. We need to get rid of our stinkin thinkin. We need to get into God’s word to renew our minds.

There are two positive mindsets:

1. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Phil 4:13

2. I am more than a conqueror.

God’s blessings will always follow with wisdom and work.If you don’t have wisdom, pray for it.

Don’t give up! We will still go through stuff but God is right there with us.

The hand of the Lord is upon you so RISE UP!

You are now my president. I wish you all the best and I have committed to pray for you and your family. I still have some valid concerns but I am hopeful things will turn out ok. This is a historic day for you and I pay tribute to that.

I do pray for the sake of this country you can continue to unify us and uphold this very important position with respect and integrity. May God bless you and May God bless your family!

We are taking a class at our church on healing and I have to say it was eye opening for me because I could apply these principles to other areas of my life. Something that sent a light bulb off in my head was faith and trust in God has to come from knowing him. How do you trust someone you do not know? Good question. I love God with all of my heart and I pray every day but one area I lack discipline is reading my Bible. This has been an area I have needed to work on for a while. I think some of my trust issues have to do with not knowing who God truly is enough to trust his promises for me. I know it all in my head but don’t quite have it in my heart.

So, this morning I got up a little early and I read just a little bit in Romans on Faith. I want to have that unwavering faith that Abraham had when God gave him the promise of a son and being the father of nations.  I then got on the tread mill and really started praying and I felt energized. I think we get bound up in legalism that says you have to read so many chapters a day or you are not a good Christian. I want to work up to that but I also want to get revelation off of what I am reading. I don’t want to read the Bible just to say I did my daily quota. I want to meditate and really get the word in my spirit.

I want to change the way I say things. Sometimes we are in our current situations because of our negative tongue. We really have to watch what we say with our lips. The tongue is a powerful weapon. We can curse people with it or bring life. I am trying to watch what I say regarding sickness and our financial situation. It says in the Bible to look at the unseen (which is faith) and not look at your circumstances. We need to keep our focus on Jesus, be obedient and do what he is telling us to do and the rest will fall into place.
